Copacabana Mon Amour, an unprecedented film in Brazil, since it was never distributed commercially, has been an instant hit at the countless international festivals in which it was entered.
Recently, in Italy, at the Turin Film Festival, as part of a complete screening of Rogério Sganzerla´s best films, Copacabana Mon Amour was rated one of the best films of the 1970s.
In Argentina, at the BAFICI (International Film Festival in Buenos Aires), at a packed session full of enthusiastic viewers, the film was chosen for entry at another festival, in Munich, where it enjoyed rave reviews.
The restoration of Copacabana Mon Amour became an urgent task, and a must see film.
On the film Copacabana Mon Amour, the director Rogério Sganzerla wrote, among other things, these words:
"It is a frantic miscellany of ecstasies of all types. A novel experience using a hand-held camera in totalscope."
In my opinion, Copacabana Mon Amour, with its gallery of amazing characters, including Sonia Silk, the Fera Oxigenada, is an outstanding film.
