Copacabana, mon amour: an innovative film from every angle.
From a technical standpoint, it involves original photography thanks to the unique use in our cinema of an anamorphic lens that transforms the image into cinemascope - more specifically, into the totalscope format which, at that time, was used in the Hong Kong martial arts films.
The color, the hand camera with that special lens. By creating a panoramic view through this lens, it kind of bends your perspective, requiring a careful, albeit improvised, use of camera movements. All of this within a shantytown with completely marginal characters under the loving gaze of Rogério Sganzerla, the maestro behind this masterpiece of our cinema!
